Tractor Safety

Tractors play a vital role in agriculture and the most valuable equipment when used safely They can be very dangerous when not used properly and kill approximately 700 and disable 130,000 yearly. Most accidents are preventable when you put safety first.

Since October 26, 1976 the U.S. Department of Labor required that tractors should have rollover protective structures (ROPS) and seat belts to decrease deaths. OSHA reports people killed in agricultural were killed by tractors. Tractors for sale before 1976 will not have these safety features.

When buying a used tractor gain an understanding of the capabilities, power and safety features. Proper maintenance will keep all used farm machinery working and safe. Regular maintenance assuring signal and hazard lights work properly assure safety when traveling on roads.
